Frequently Asked Questions from Clients
About Our Design Services and Our Responses.
Who at the firm will I work with regularly, and will they be designing my project?
Like for all our clients through the years, you will maintain continuous contact with Myles McKenzie, who will create your new home design.
What is your approach to design?
Thanks to our extensive experience in designing a variety of projects, we can work with a broad spectrum of architectural styles. With enthusiasm, professionalism, and skill, we prioritize understanding your unique requirements, preferences, and aversions to craft a design that suits your lifestyle perfectly. Our method guarantees that the final outcome is customized to fulfill your needs efficiently.
What kind of information are you expecting from me?
We advise clients to develop a curated folder, whether digitally or physically. This collection might feature images of room layouts, design details, and color palettes that appeal to them. Such a visual collection will offer valuable insights into their personal style and preferences, allowing us to better understand and fulfill their design needs.
I’m really curious about how long the design process takes.
The promptness and clarity of client feedback on our design drawings significantly influence our path. Generally, the design process lasts an impressive 2-4 weeks, varying with project size, as we turn ideas into reality. After the design drawings are approved, developing the construction plan usually requires around 1-2 months, contingent on the project scope.
Are construction estimates and detailed takeoffs for building materials available?
We do not offer construction estimating services since contractors are typically the best source for accurate project estimates, which can vary significantly by project location.
If the scope of our project changes later on, can we adjust our plans?
Making adjustments during the design phase is crucial, as it’s the optimal time to implement changes. Modifications made later, during the construction drawing stage, tend to be more time-consuming and might lead to additional hourly fees for those changes.
What role will you have during construction?
Myles McKenzie of Pacific Palisades Home Design is the sole interpreter of the construction documents. The contractor is in charge of construction methods, layout, and oversight.
WILL YOU COLLABORATE DIRECTLY WITH THE CONTRACTOR?
Myles McKenzie from Pacific Palisades Home Design exemplifies a dedication to excellence by being consistently available for questions throughout the construction process, offering support to both builders and clients at no cost. When unexpected challenges arise, it is the contractor’s responsibility to contact Myles McKenzie to work together in finding the most effective solutions.
